Our Leadership

MAWD is governed by a nine member Board of Directors comprised of shareholding pathologists. Together, Dr. Caughron, Dr. Sramek, and Dr. Nedved oversee the operational aspects of our labs, offices, and over 250 employees.

Brett Sramek, DO

Chief Operating Officer

Dr. Brett Sramek earned his medical degree from Kansas City University, completed his residency at the University of Missouri and fellowship at Yale. He is board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, and specializes in gastrointestinal (GI) pathology.

As Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Sramek oversees the staffing, processes, validations, and compliance of all MAWD labs. Dr. Sramek joined MAWD in 2011.

Samuel Caughron, MD

President & Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Samuel Caughron earned his medical degree and completed his residency at Creighton University. He completed his fellowship at Vanderbilt and was the first board certified molecular genetic pathologist in the region.

Dr. Caughron joined MAWD in 2009 and was selected by the board to serve as President and Chief Executive Officer in 2014. Under his leadership, MAWD has more than doubled in size and expanded to serve clients throughout the United States. Dr. Caughron sets the vision for the company and lays the groundwork for new client partnerships.

Drew Nedved, MD

Chief Financial Officer

Dr. Drew Nedved earned his medical degree from the University of Kansas. He also completed his residency and fellowship in hematopathology at the University of Kansas. Dr. Nedved is board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and Hematopathology.

As Chief Financial Officer, Dr. Nedved oversees MAWD's financials and works to optimize our financial performance. Dr. Nedved joined MAWD in 2016.
